Unfinished Quilt Blocks and Scraps – Ugly Quilt!.
My Mom is an active member of the sewing ladies group at her local church. They make quilts for Lutheran World Relief, an organization that provides quilts to refugees and displaced peoples around the world. Mom’s group makes several hundred quilts every year, which, needless to say, leaves a lot of scraps behind! As they live in a small town (the nearest fabric store is about an hour’s drive away), most of their fabric comes to them in the form of donations. Lots of people around town donate material from auctions, their Grandma’s attics, estate sales, etc. Lots of the donations are just bags of fabric, but other interesting items come in from time to time also.
Someone donated these quilt blocks that look as though they were using up every scrap they had to make! Mom calls this the ‘ugly quilt’, but I’m sure someone out there will want to give it a home. The fabrics are mostly vintage and have been sewn together in 6X15″ rectangles. There are also 48 8″ squares of extra fabric waiting to be cut and added in. The blocks have been machine pieced.
